HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Honolulu firefighters were called to a two-story building fire near Dillingham Blvd in Kalihi.
The call came in just before 7 p.m. when heavy black smoke was reported seen from a distance.
According to HFD, the first unit saw the smoke and requested a second alarm. Firefighters first arrived on the scene just four minutes after the call was made.
Upon arrival, officials discovered that the smoke was coming from a moped shop located on the first floor of the building.
Reports said a hazmat unit was also dispatched due to batteries likely to be presented in the fire.
After securing a water supply, firefighters were able to conduct an offensive fire attack to get the flames under control by 7:21 p.m. before it was fully extinguished just before 8 p.m.
A fire investigator was requested to determine the cause and origin of the flames.
