United Airlines flight attendants to announce strike vote results

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- United Airlines flight attendants could walk off the job as they announce the results of their strike authorization vote on Wednesday while picketing at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

This will mark the first time United Airlines flight attendants have voted on a strike authorization since the 2005 bankruptcy negotiations.

The results will be announced live on "nearly 20 informational picket lines at airports across the country."

According to officials, United Flight Attendants demand " a significant double-digit base pay increase, increased pay for time at work including on the ground, retroactive pay to the amendable date, flexible schedules, job security, retirement and more.

United flight attendants hope to see faster negotiations after flight attendants from American, Alaska, Southwest and other airlines saw results in their recent strike authorization votes.

More than eight months ago, United flight attendants filed for a federal mediator after "working under an amendable contract for nearly three years."
