Fifty-year-old Gary Gushiken was reported missing on Saturday around 6:40 p.m. when he was separated from his snorkeling group at Nukoli‘i Beach in Wailua.

Search efforts were conducted in the air, on land and at sea throughout the weekend by the U.S. Coast Guard, Ocean Safety Bureau and the DLNR.

We are grateful for everyone's efforts in the search for Gary, especially during the elevated surf and high wind conditions. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.

Michael Gibson, Fire Chief

On Tuesday evening, the search was suspended. Life's Bridges volunteers have offered support to Gushiken's family.
