HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Hawaii has seen some major changes in energy over the past few years with a focus on shifting to renewable, and the closing of Oahu's coal plant.
There have also been rolling blackouts on the Big Island and the wildfires on Maui that have prompted dozens of lawsuits.
That brings us to an energy crossroads, with policymakers, producers, and consumer advocates helping to navigate the path forward.
Some of those stakeholders gathered to speak to KHON2 for Empowered Hawaii: The Path Forward.
Mark Glick from the Hawaii State Energy Office, Sandra Larsen with power producer AES Hawaii, and Gwen Yamamoto Lau of the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority shared their thoughts.
