HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A once-grand tree in Moiliili has been removed following an incident last week where a large branch fell onto the sidewalk at the corner of King and Beretania streets.
No injuries or damage were reported from the fallen branch.
However, the city’s Division of Urban Forestry inspected the tree and determined it was unhealthy.
As a result, the tree was cut down, and its stump was excavated Friday.
The city plans to plant a new tree at the site either late next month or in early October.
