HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Ongoing negotiations took place on Thursday between locked-out nurses and Kapiolani Medical Center, with a federal mediator joining the talks.
The two sides began discussions at 11 a.m.
About 600 union nurses had been locked out since a strike on September 13.
Additionally, the state Department of Health investigated complaints against Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
The department's Office of Health Care Assurance confirmed it looked into two anonymous complaints.
The Department of Health stated that the investigation was part of standard operating procedures.
In response, Kapiolani Medical Center said it was not unusual for the Department of Health to visit healthcare facilities and that it was cooperating by providing the requested information.
The hospital emphasized its commitment to delivering quality care to the community.
