Honolulu resident Lori McCarney honored her late father, Sanford Brown, who battled Alzheimer's.

McCarney and her father shared a passion for biking. Her passion has brought her to embark on the journey that will take her across Europe to raise $8,000 over five weeks for the Alzheimer's Association -- Hawaii.

Lori will also take part in "The Longest Day," which is a signature "do-it-yourself" fundraising event that honors "the strength, passion, and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's, their caregivers, and to support the vital and mission-critical work of the Alzheimer's Association.

"It's really difficult for families and I just wanna give a hug to all of the people out there caring for people with Alzheimer's. It's truly a real demonstration of true love, it really is," said McCarney.

Reports said Lori conducted her big fundraising pushes on her father's birthday, June 13, and on Father's Day.
