HONOLULU (KHON2) -- An E. coli outbreak has led several restaurants, including Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC, to remove fresh onions from select locations as a precautionary measure.
While food safety officials are investigating the outbreak associated with McDonald's Quarter Pounder, no cases have been linked to Taco Bell or other Yum Brands restaurants.
Federal officials are currently examining the onions and beef patties used in Quarter Pounders.
The outbreak has resulted in one fatality and has sickened dozens of individuals.
However, McDonald's locations in Hawaii are not affected by this situation.
