HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Federal money is coming to help with the recovery efforts on Kauai from a severe April storm.
On Monday, President Joe Biden declared the severe storms, flooding, and landslides in mid-April a major disaster.
According to officials, the funding will be available to state and eligible local governments "on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of the facilities damaged."
Following the severe flooding in April that resulted in significant infrastructure damage across various parts of Kaua‘i, we express our gratitude to the federal government for its funding and assistance. This crucial support will address the urgent repair and reconstruction efforts to help our island recover from the major natural disaster in April.
