HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A Nuuanu teen woke up on Sunday morning remembering the night she was crowned Miss Hawaii's Teen 2024.
On Saturday, Nicole Taylor McClain of Nuuanu took home the title after competing against 11 other delegates from throughout the state.
Officials said McClain's victory stemmed from her outstanding performance in all five phases of the three-hour-long scholarship competition.
The phases included a private interview with the judges panel, onstage conversation, performing arts talent, evening gown, and health and fitness.
McClain shined in the performing arts talent phase after judges were impressed "with her rendition of Defyung Gravity from the famed musical 'Wicked,' while wearing a beautiful green dress."
According to reports, the judges found that her performance showed commitment, perseverance and confidence.
The Miss Hawaii Organization aims to empower Hawaii women to help them succeed in their career and personal goals.
