HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is embarking on a mission to fill nearly 400 vacant positions for adult correction officers across the state.
They are launching the Unlocking Potential campaign next week to sweep across various platforms, including social media, radio broadcasts, job fairs, and even a captivating 30-second spot to be aired in movie theaters statewide.
In an effort to streamline recruitment efforts, training for new recruits has been condensed from 11 weeks to just eight, and the number of graduating classes annually is set to double from two to three, ultimately reaching six classes a year.
Tommy Johnson, Director of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, highlighted a significant shift in their approach.
Now that we've renamed every designated department of corrections and rehabilitation, we want to do that paradigm shift, where we're providing more effective evidence-based programming, more holistic-type programming, and reentry, wraparound reentry type services. So we're looking for a staff who are willing to help us change people's lives for the better
