Recovery office to replace two Maui disaster centers

LAHAINA, Hawaii (KHON2) -- The Disaster Recovery Center at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, and the Community Resource Center at the Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows will permanently close on Saturday at 2 p.m. A new Maui County Office of Recovery will open at Lahaina Gateway, 325 Keawe St., Suite B102.

The Office of Recovery hours starting Monday, July 8 will be Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A blessing for the new recovery office will be held on Wednesday. The office will then close during the holiday on Thursday. Limited services will be offered on Friday, July 5.

A FEMA specialist will be on hand to help disaster survivors at the Council for Native
Hawaiian Advancement’s Kākoʻa Maui Resource Hub, located at 70 Kaahumanu Ave. in Kahului.

For the remainder of the week, survivors may visit the Community Resource Center at the Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows, located at 2780 Keka‘a Dr., which has the same operating hours as the Disaster Recovery Center.
