HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Library of Congress Veterans History Program has partnered with the Oahu Veterans Center to help share the stories of former Hawaii service members.
Hawaii veterans are encouraged to share their stories of service on June 6 and June 10 in a 30 to 90-minute interview.
According to the LoC, any United States veteran who has either served or seen combat is welcome to participate.
The LoC hopes to preserve these stories "through oral history interviews and documents such as photographs, letters, journals, and diaries" for future generations to understand the realities of war.
In total, the VHP has gathered over 100 thousand stories dating from WWI to now. The documents and interviews will become part of the permanent collections of the Library of Congress and will be made available to the public.
The VHP has released a form for more information and to register for the interview.
