HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Popular surf spot, Point Panic, got its name from surfers panicking as they approached the seawall. On Tuesday, the spot prompted surfers to panic after a large shark was spotted.
According to Ocean Safety, the shark was between eight to ten feet long and was seen near the surf lineup at Point Panic.
Lifeguards on watercraft cleared the area and warned other surfers. One said he saw a smaller shark in the same area a few days prior.
"It dove under me pretty quick, so I put my foot up and just kind of calmed down, made sure everyone is alright," said Raymon Tatang, surfer. "I showed everyone, I told everyone that there's a shark around the area."
Ocean Safety believe it was a non-aggressive shark and it was last seen heading towards Honolulu Harbor.
