HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A severe head-on collision on Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenue near Essex Road late Friday night left two men hospitalized, one in critical condition.
At around 10:45 p.m. on August 30, 2024, a 42-year-old man driving northbound crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 21-year-old man traveling southbound.
Emergency Medical Services rushed both drivers to a nearby hospital.
The older driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, is in critical condition, while the younger driver is in serious condition.
Initial reports suggest alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
Investigators are still looking into whether speeding was also a factor.
The Honolulu Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
